Roanoke Valley law enforcement reported the following:

Northampton County Sheriff’s Office

Captain Patrick Jacobs reported on Monday around 12:30 a.m. the sheriff’s office responded to Mills Street in Severn on a call concerning a person who had been shot.

Deputies discovered that 51-year-old Erskine Lawrence of Severn had sustained gunshot wounds to the body resulting in his death on scene. 

Jacobs said investigation continues and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the sheriff’s office at 252-534-2611 or Crime Stoppers at 252-534-1110.

Weldon Police Department

Chief Christopher Davis reported on Thursday around 10:30 p.m. Sergeant L. Melton responded to Rockfish Drive about the larceny of a wallet.

The victim said while they were cleaning someone later identified as Willie Thomas Suiter III came into the building and took the wallet.

Melton reviewed security footage and got an image of the alleged suspect. 

Later that evening during his patrol on West First Street, Melton located Suiter, 43, of Weldon.

Suiter was placed under arrest and taken before a Halifax County Magistrate. 

He was charged with misdemeanor larceny and received a $1,000 unsecured bond. He has a July 12 court date.

Corporal S. McKimmey assisted. 

On Monday around 8:30 p.m. Officer M. DiPietro was patrolling in the 400 block of Sycamore Street when she came across a domestic in progress. 

The officer activated emergency lights and got out of her patrol vehicle. The officer gave commands to the man who was striking the female victim. 

The man, later identified as Detavioun Denoris Ingram, 37, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, complied.

DiPetro requested assistance from the Halifax County Sheriff's Office and a deputy arrived.

He was transported to the Halifax County Magistrate’s Office where he kept trying to snatch away from the officer while being escorted.

He was charged with assault on a female and resisting a public officer. He was jailed without opportunity for bond due to the domestic nature of the case. He has a July 6 court date.
