Angela Battle, principal of Scotland Neck Elementary Leadership Academy, has been selected as a Restart Guest Fellow.
The fellowship is through the state’s Office of Charter Schools NC Access Fellows Institute.
“Mrs. Battle hit the ground running and has not stopped doing what is needed for the children of Scotland Neck,” Halifax County Schools Superintendent Eric L. Cunningham said. “Her instructional knowledge and caring attitude will serve the community well. We are proud of her.”
The fellowship is a one-year immersive professional learning experience designed to support developing and disseminating best practices in serving educationally disadvantaged students. Only four guest fellows slots were available for restart principals to attend the Fellows Institute.
These principal leaders operate their traditional school as a restart school, with charter-like flexibility granted under state law and authorized by the North Carolina State Board of Education.
After participation in the NC ACCESS Fellows Institute, Battle will share her experiences and knowledge gained with other Restart leaders across the state during the June 2022 Restart Professional Learning Network.
