Three new deaths related to COVID-19 were reported by the Halifax County Health Department today, bringing the total to 129.
Today the health department added 214 new positive cases, which brings the total since March of last year to 7,267.
There have been 6,676 patients who have recovered — 92.86 percent — and 385 current patients.
Despite the report of three new deaths related to the virus, a plateau in cases reported last week continues, county health Director Bruce Robistow said. “The optimistic review of this week’s data does show a positive direction. Percent positives have declined by 3 percent. We are sustaining the plateau in positive cases. Regretfully, we added three more deaths to the count totaling 129 lost to COVID-19.”
He asks that county residents pull together to continue the positive trajectory by what he is now calling the V3W mitigation approach — vaccination, waiting 6-feet apart, wearing a facial covering, and frequent handwashing.
