A Weldon woman was charged Saturday for reportedly stabbing her boyfriend, according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
Chief Deputy Scott Hall said around 4 p.m. Deputy A. Wood responded to Vidant North Hospital after receiving a report someone had been stabbed in the 700 block of Sycamore Street.
Wood spoke to the victim and learned the girlfriend, Dearia Ashani Ryland, 18, used a knife to stab him in the arm and stomach.
Ryland was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
She was initially held in jail without opportunity for bond. She has an October 6 court date.
Hall said the victim has been released from medical care. An argument most likely led to the stabbing, he said.
