Northampton County Sheriff’s Office investigators have achieved new professional milestones.

Captain Patrick Jacobs, the chief detective of criminal investigations, earned the Senior Level Management Training Certification on March 4.

Jacobs received this certification after attending and graduating from a six-month law enforcement management institute from September of last year to March at Coastal Plain Law Enforcement Center at Wilson Community College with the completion of 215 hours.

“I am extremely proud of Captain Jacobs on this course completion,” Sheriff Jack Smith said. “The management level training is a demanding and dedicated course toward preparing law enforcement personnel in effective management skills.”

Meanwhile Sergeant Mitchell Deloatch, a CID detective, completed the criminal investigator program. He completed the program at WCC after earning 394 hours of criminal investigation training. He was awarded the certificate last month.

“Training is an essential asset in giving officers the required skills and knowledge needed to investigate crimes and is beneficial in enabling our officers to efficiently stay on top of crime,” Smith said. “I am extremely proud of Sergeant Deloatch for completing this investigator training as there were numerous training sessions to attend.”
