The percentage of positive COVID-19 cases in Halifax County has dwindled to 1.5 percent, the health department reported today.
The health department reported no deaths related to the virus. The number of deaths related to the virus stands at 181 in this week’s report.
Nine new positive cases were added, bringing the total since March of 2020 to 13,905.
“It is great to see the numbers continue to decline consistently,” health department Director Bruce Robistow said. “Halifax County has met the two primary goals including community spread and percent positive, making masks optional as long as the goals are met.”
Robistow said those who are at high risk for severe illness should talk to their healthcare provider about whether they need to wear a mask and take other precautions.
