A Roanoke Rapids man faces cocaine charges following the service of a search warrant Wednesday morning on Carter Street.
Scottie Plum was also served with outstanding warrants for five counts of possession of schedule II.
Roanoke Rapids police Chief Bobby Martin said the narcotics division arrived with the search warrant around 7:15 a.m.
He said it appeared Plum attempted to destroy crack cocaine by flushing it before law enforcement arrived.
Officers located crack in the residence and charged Plum with possession of schedule II, altering or destroying evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He received a $25,000 bond and April 28 court date.
Martin said the police department encourages the community to contact law enforcement about drug activity by calling 252-533-2810 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
