Larceny suspect
Today around 9 a.m. a man wanted for a January 9 larceny at a business on Smith Church Road was captured.
Officer L. Balmer noticed Linnie Cashman Sykes walking from the porch of a Chockoyotte Street residence toward a vehicle.
When Sykes noticed Balmer driving into the driveway he hurriedly went back in the house. When officers asked permission to search the house a woman said he had run out the back door.
As officers mentioned getting a search warrant to search the house Sykes came from inside and surrendered.
Sykes was jailed without the opportunity for bond due to another pending larceny which occurred on October 31.
In the January 9 larceny Sykes left the business without paying. He has been charged with misdemeanor larceny. He has a February 9 court date for that charge and a February 2 court date for misdemeanor larceny and possession of stolen goods.
