The following candidates in the March 5 primary released statements of thanks and support:

Takiya Lewis Blalock — District 7 seat 3 district court judge

I thank God for His grace and for him keeping me through this process.

I’m thankful to my husband, Nick, my parents and my family for supporting me throughout this entire campaign.

I also want to thank my supporters and the people of District 7 for coming out and making their voices heard.

I would like to recognize my opponent, Thomas Dixon, for a well-run campaign.

I look forward to January when I begin serving the people of this district.

I intend to do so with fairness and compassion, doing my part in ensuring that justice is being served.

I have served the community since 2010 as an attorney, and I am so proud to be able to serve them as their new district court judge for District 7, seat 3.

Ophelia Gould-Faison — District 1 Halifax County Board of Commissioners

I am most thankful and grateful for the support of my family, friends and volunteers as I was a candidate for the Halifax County Board of Commissioner District 1 during the primary election.

To all the citizens in Halifax County that participated, in any capacity, in the primary election, I say thank you.

To all the Candidates that took the steps to show they were willing to serve their community, who braved the early voting schedule and on election day I say a job well done.  Congratulations to Mr. Jimmie Silver who won the Halifax County Board of Commissioner District 1 seat.

My congratulations to all the candidates who won and to the citizens of Halifax County.

Rodney Pierce — North Carolina House District 27

Over the past few months, I have had the distinct honor and pleasure of getting to travel around this great district of ours and meet with people from all sorts of backgrounds and experiences.

I have been blessed to hear their concerns, their thoughts, and their dreams, both for themselves and their children. I have been running for the past few months to be the voice of the district.

After looking at the vote tallies and crunching the numbers, I can say with confidence that the people of North Carolina House District 27 have chosen me to be their representative in Raleigh.

I am incredibly honored to have been selected to be your voice.

I want to take a moment to say thank you to my campaign team, my campaign manager C.J. Robinson, everyone who made phone calls and knocked on doors, and everyone who showed up to vote. This team truly left it all on the field.

While there is no Republican opponent and therefore no general election, I still intend to continue this campaign.

I still plan to meet with community groups and leaders. I still plan to listen and learn from the citizens of the district.

I have no intention of ever being complacent.

I know that while I have been given the privilege to be the voice of the district, that privilege can be taken away.

This is an opportunity that I do not intend to squander and I look forward to championing the causes of the people of this district.

Once again, let me give an immense thank you to everyone involved and I can’t wait to be your voice in Raleigh.
