Halifax County Business Horizons has received a grant of $16,000 from the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation’s Environmental Education and Stewardship Initiative.

The funding aims to bolster environmental preservation efforts within the town of Weldon through the Weldon Shoreline Stabilization Project.

“Shoreline erosion is threatening recreation opportunities provided at River Falls Park for Weldon’s residents and visitors,” said Weldon Mayor Hugh Credle. “These funds will be the foundational point in our efforts to stabilize the riverine shoreline to prevent further erosion from occurring.”

The official presentation of funding was made by Winnie Wade, external affairs manager for Dominion Energy North Carolina. “The Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation is proud to support nonprofits like Halifax County Business Horizons. This grant represents our commitment to assist organizations conducting meaningful projects in local communities,  such as the town of Weldon.”

Scott Aman, president of Halifax County Business Horizons, said the grant represents critical advancement in preserving the Roanoke River’s natural beauty and recreational value for future generations. “We are grateful to the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation for being a valuable community partner and for its commitment to improving the environment in the communities it serves.”
