After changing his plea to guilty on two counts in December, Katoe Wardell Harris Sr. was sentenced to 60 months on count 2 of his federal indictment and a month for count 2.

Federal court records show the 60-month sentence is consecutive to count 1.

The third count against him had charged that he had previously been convicted of a crime and knowingly possessed a firearm that was used in affecting commerce.

District Judge Terrence W. Boyle sentenced Harris in Raleigh Wednesday.

At the completion of his sentence Boyle ordered Harris to serve a concurrent term of supervised release for one to three years for count 1 and five years for count 2.

Count one is a charge of possession with intent to to distribute a quantity of crack and count 2 is a charge of possession of a firearm in the furtherance of a drug trafficking crime,

Following the proceedings, Harris was remanded to custody.

Harris, of Roanoke Rapids, was named in a three-count federal indictment which was based on a 2023 Halifax County Sheriff’s Office investigation which led to his local arrest in January of that year.

That raid by the sheriff’s office yielded multiple bags of cocaine, bags of amphetamine, Xanax, Focalin, suboxone strips, and approximately $11,100 in currency. Four firearms were also located inside the residence.
