Roanoke Valley law enforcement reported the following:
Weldon shooting update
A Roanoke Rapids man is wanted in a shooting that occurred the morning of April 21 on East Sixth Street in Weldon.
Weldon police Chief Christopher Davis said the victim in the shooting continues to recover and Detective H. Cross has obtained warrants for the arrest of 32-year-old Collie Davis Jr. on charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, discharging a weapon into occupied property, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, injury to personal property, and injury to real property.
Collie Davis, who is considered armed and dangerous, has yet to be located.
The shooting, which occurred around 5:15 a.m., happened as two people were in a vehicle. The person shot was not the intended victim, Chief Davis said.
Collie Davis is encouraged to surrender and anyone with information is encouraged to call the police department at 252-536-3136.
More charges for robbery suspect
Captain Scott Hall of Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported today that a man in a Friday night armed robbery now faces charges for a May 8 robbery at the same business.
The May 8 robbery of the business on West Tenth Street outside Roanoke Rapids occurred around 5:15 a.m.
Sergeant B. Edmondson charged Armel Triquan Deloatch, 23 of Roanoke Rapids with robbery with a dangerous weapon for that heist.
In the Friday robbery, which occurred around 8 p.m., he was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault by pointing a gun.
In the Friday robbery the Criminal Investigations Division learned a man entered the store holding a firearm and demanded money from the cashier and a patron.
He remains in the Halifax County Detention Center with a May 14 district court date for the Friday robbery and a May 23 district court date for the May 8 robbery.
