A Roanoke Rapids man was arrested this morning on charges of methamphetamine possession as well as possession of a concealed weapon.
Major Anzell M. Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said Deputy J. Morales stopped David Lance Berwick, 45, in the Weldon area around 1 a.m. after observing an expired registration plate. Berwick was stopped in the area of Ninth and Sycamore streets.
During a pat down, meth and a concealed handgun was found.
Morales arrested and charged Berwick with possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances, carrying a concealed gun, possession of marijuana up to one-half ounce, fictitious registration plate, operating a vehicle without insurance, driving while license revoked and driving a motor vehicle with no registration.
Because of an August 23 arrest on Zoo Road where meth and marijuana was seized, Berwick was jailed without the opportunity for bond and has a November 21 district court date.
