The Halifax County Convention & Visitors Bureau board of directors recently bestowed the Spirit of Hospitality Award to Tasha Tillery.

Tillery is the retail manager and front desk staff for Sylvan Heights and received the 2024 Spirit of Hospitality Award in the guest relations and retail sales categories.

Brent Lubbock, director of operations and development at Sylvan Heights, said, “Tasha is the friendly face visitors see when entering the park. She shares information about local restaurants and points of interest.”

As manager, “Tasha orders items for the gift shop, arranges the gift items and keeps the gift shop stocked with new and interesting items for park Shoppers. Tasha exemplifies the spirit of hospitality with her outstanding personality, thorough management of the gift shop, and sincere friendliness and smile.”

The HCCVB created the Spirit of Hospitality Award to honor employees in the tourism/hospitality industry who enhance visitor experiences in Halifax County. Individuals can be nominated in one or more of several categories, including server, hotel guest relations, and retail services. Nominees must represent a lodging property, campground, restaurant, bar, attraction, or retailer in Halifax County.

“We are excited to be able to recognize employees that go above and beyond in providing excellent customer service,” said Lori Medlin, president and CEO of the bureau. “We feel that this program will help us in our efforts to grow repeat visitation to Halifax County.”
