The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is attempting to identify the owner of handguns that were found during several different traffic stops.
According to Sergeant L. Bynum these are the following cases in which handguns were found:
A member of Troop C District 8 was investigating a fatal collision onFebruary 18, 2023, when he discovered a handgun within the vehicle. A check of the serial number was conducted but the gun had not been reported stolen to a law enforcement agency.
The trooper seized a Glock 9mm.
A member of Troop C District 8 was investigating a fatal collision on December 26, 2020, when he discovered a handgun within the vehicle. A check of the serial number was conducted but the gun had not been reported stolen to a law enforcement agency.
The trooper seized a Ruger LCP.
A member of Troop C District 8 was involved in a vehicle pursuit in Northampton County on March 13. A search of the area was conducted and a weapon was discovered.
A check of the serial numbers was conducted but the gun had not been reported stolen to a law enforcement agency.
The trooper seized a Glock 9mm and a Canik 9mm.
