Phillip Stanley Taylor, 78, of Gaston, NC, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025.

He was a native of Halifax County and was the son of the late Albert Lee Taylor and Doma Lee Mosley.

Stanley was an outstanding father, grandfather, and was an extraordinary hunter.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Emma Draper Taylor; his daughter, Emma “Jeanie” Pope of Roanoke Rapids and his son, Glenn Taylor and his fiancé’, Melissa Strum of White Plains, Virginia; his three grandchildren, Stephanie Pope, Brandon Pope, Jarret Taylor; and one great-grandchild, Skyler Pope; and his faithful canine companion, "Sissy".

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Crestview Memorial Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids with Roger Wright officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30-1:30 PM at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids and request that friends and family wear camo or green clothing in honor of Stanley’s love for the outdoors and hunting.
