John Gregory Reber 51, of 236 Old Farm Rd. died Saturday September 4, 2010 after a long battle with cancer. John was born July 17, 1959 to the late John Arnett Reber and Vivian Cook Reber who survives.

He lived in Florence, South Carolina before coming to Roanoke Rapids. He graduated from Roanoke Rapids High School, after graduation he attended East Carolina University. He later joined the United States Air Force where he worked with computers. He also lived and worked in Myrtle Beach, S.C., New Orleans and Durham as a salesman.

He is survived by his mother Vivian Cook Reber; his sister Laura R. Mason of Charlotte; his brother Mark Reber of Garner; a special niece Ashley Reber of Roanoke Rapids; nieces Alex and Catlin Mason and one nephew Caleb Mason and a special friend Charles Hockaday.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of The First United Methodist Church in Roanoke Rapids with the Rev. C.B. Owens officiating. Interment will follow in cedarwood cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

Friends may visit at the home of Vivian Reber 236 old farm Rd Roanoke Rapids.

Arrangements are being handled by Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids.

The flag in front of the funeral home flies at half-staff in honor of Mr. Reber’s service to his country.
