Susan “Sis” Roberta Rook Woodard 57, of Henrico died Friday September 10, 2010 at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids. Susan was the daughter of the late James Robertson Rook and Allie Brewer Rook. She was also preceded in death by her step-father Shelton Woodrow Rook.

Susan was a loving Christian women who devoted her life to christian service and serving others in need. She was an active member of Lake Gaston Baptist Church. She received her B.S. Degree in Sociology from East Carolina University and her Masters Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Social Work. She was in the process of completing her Doctorate in counseling from Liberty University .

Susan was a social worker with district 19 CSB in Emporia until her retirement in 2006. She was employed by BEARS until her illness.

She is survived by her husband, Robert “Rob” Woodard, two brothers James “Jim” Rook and his wife, Lois of Roanoke Rapids and Gerald Rook and his wife, Belinda of Littleton; two nieces Amy Rook Guy of Hillsborough and Felicia W. Prease of Wilmington and two nephews James Robert Rook of Roanoke Rapids and Phil West of Bunn and several great nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 13, at 2 P.M. at Lake Gaston Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Nida officiating.   Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The Family will receive friends Sunday, September 12, from 7-8:30 at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids.
