Fred Randolph Duke Sr., 90, of Aurelian Springs, NC, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at his home.

He was born in Northampton County to the late Fred Douglas and Emma Lee Askew Duke and was preceded in death by his sister Marian Duke Boone. 

Fred was a veteran in the U.S. Army seeing action during the Korean War. He retired from CSX and was a member of Tabor United Methodist Church of Littleton, a lifetime member of the Amvets Post 320 and loved to work hard and especially loved gardening.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sue Liles Duke; his son, Fred Randolph Duke, Jr. and his wife Cynthia of Littleton, NC; two grandchildren, Jason Duke of Raleigh, NC and Jacob Duke of Littleton, NC; his two brothers, Frank Duke of Washington, NC, and Tony Duke and his wife, Linda of Milwaukee, NC; several nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Laura Arthur and her husband, Benji.

A service to celebrate Fred’s life will be held on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 2:00pm at Tabor United Methodist Church with Rev. Cara Thompson officiating. 

Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 6:00 until 7:30 pm at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids, NC and other times at the home of Fred Randolph Duke, Jr.
