Martha Gardner Wilson, 97, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026.
She was a native of Halifax County and was the daughter of the late Alfred William Gardner and Van Oliest Lee Gardner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Oak Wilson and siblings, Eloise G. Nelms, Doris G. Gupton, Robert Gardner, and daughter-in-law, Jan Wilson.
Martha was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a Sunday School teacher most of her adult life. She was a lifelong quilter and over the years she made many quilts for others including all of her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Jane Wilson Lawler and her husband, Thomas of Raleigh, NC; sons, Ken Wilson of Roanoke Rapids and John Wilson and his wife, Launa of Cle Elum, Washington; three grandchildren, David Wayne Wilson and his wife, Rebecca, Christene Hoyt and her husband, Phillip and Heather Royster and her husband, Josh; six great grandchildren, Ashley Hoyt, Taylor Hoyt, Rileigh Wilson, Kayla Wilson, Addie Royster and Jack Royster.
A funeral service was held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at Calvary Baptist Church. Rev. Randy Martin and Rev. Andy Sloan officiated.
Interment followed at Crestview Memorial Cemetery.
