Lillie Acree Wright, 93, of Roanoke Rapids died Friday at her home surrounded by her loving family.

A native of Halifax County she was the daughter of the late Larry and Effie Sasser Acree. 

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Buck C. Wright, whom she married on July 3, 1948, her sisters Hilda Cocker and her husband, Junior, Lucille Evans and Deny Allen and her husband, Laster; two brothers, Curtis and Randolph Acree; 

Lillie loved working in her yard, swimming at the aquatic center, walking the manning track and in her younger days she loved to bowl, but most importantly she loved being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her grandchildren. She was a long-time member of New Testament Christian Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra W. Davis of Halifax, her sons, Greg Wright and his wife, Judy of Halifax and David Wright and his wife, Joni of Roanoke Rapids; sister, Teny Garner and her husband, Earl of Gaston, brother-in-law’s, Bill Evans of Roanoke Rapids and John Wright of Gasburg, Va; sister-in-law, Shirley Wright of Gasburg, Va; six grandchildren, Scott Wright, Amy Crawford and her husband, Nathanial, Jamie Glasgow, Seth Wright and his wife, Lauren, Natalie W. Shearin and her husband, Wes and Savannah Davis; five great grandchildren, Cole Glasgow, Jacob Crawford, Madison Crawford, Sasha Wright and Hayes Wright.

Private Graveside services will be held Monday August 17, 2020 in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids with Rev Daniel West officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids.
