George Bennett Harris 83, of Roanoke Rapids died Tuesday, February 9, 2021.

George was born in Swan Quarter on August 1, 1937 to the late Harvey Elmo and Ercell Rose Harris. 

He was also preceded in death by his wives, Rebecca Harris of 36 years and Eloise Harris of 24 years, his brothers and sisters, Percy Harris, Eva Mae Walker, Thomas Harris and Christine Kelly.

He was retired from West Point Stevens with 37 years of service. He spent his entire life helping others, loved seafood, especially oysters and his sweet furry friend Maggie.

George is survived by his sons, Floyd H. Harris and his wife Cherie of Bolivia and Thomas Wayne Harris and his wife, April of Roanoke Rapids; grandchildren, Stephanie Heath and her husband, Brandon, Brandi Harris, Floyd Harris, Jr., Ryan Harris, Tyler Harris, Kayla Bizzell and her husband Tyler, Jerry Hewett, Melanie Hewett and eleven great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 11 am in the Chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. 

Interment will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

The Family will receive friends from 10 am until service time at the Funeral Home on Thursday.
