Lyman Charles Shipley, 87, of Roanoke Rapids passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022. 

He was born to Dan and Grace Cross Shipley on September 21, 1934 in Hyden Kentucky.

 He grew up with his four brothers and three sisters in North Carolina.

Lyman enlisted in the U.S. Army after Graduating from Weldon High School in 1952. 

Prior to leaving for Korea, he married Louise Rightmyer. 

His decorations included the United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal w/1 Bronze Service Star, National Defense Service Medal, 2 overseas Bars and Good Conduct Medal. 

After the service Lyman worked for Coastal Lumber Company in Weldon, North Carolina until retirement. 

Lyman is predeceased by his brothers, Kenny Shipley, John Shipley and his sister, Phyllis Bridgers. 

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Louise Rightmyer Shipley; his daughter, Linda Martin (Brady); his son, Lyman "Chuck" Shipley, Jr.; his grandchildren, include Crystal Harrelson, Lyman "Chad" Shipley, III, Jesse Martin (Jennifer) and Taylor Shipley; his great-grandchildren, Colton Harrelson, Caydance Harrelson, Ella Martin and Aiden Martin; also, surviving are his brothers, Dan Shipley, Dusty Shipley and his sisters, Delores Sibley and Sue Cross. 

Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 2pm at Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon, North Carolina with Rev. Randy Martin and Rev. Chris Snead officiating. 

The family would like to extend a great appreciation for caregivers, Kat, Tonika, Lisa and Ann. 

Donations may be made in Lyman's memory to the Enterprise Baptist Church, 404 Enterprise Road, Littleton NC 27850 and the John 3:16 Center 407 East End Ave, Littleton, NC 27850.
