Bill Turner, 82, of Seaboard, NC passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022.

He was born on June 21, 1939 in Southampton County, VA to the late Joshua and Margaret Turner and was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Reuben Turner, Leslie Turner, Jasper Turner, Ruth Barnard, Martha Dunlow and Ernest Turner.

Bill was a retired farmer and restaurant owner.  

He volunteered his time with the Seaboard Volunteer Fire Department and Seaboard Lions Club.  

He loved sharing his knowledge of farming with others, working in the yard, hunting and fishing, especially at the Outer Banks where he would spend the day on the Avalon Pier doing more talking than fishing.  

In his early years he loved to spend time running the family owned Southampton County Speedway.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel; daughter, Cindy Carter and her husband John; son, Steve Turner and his wife Robin; grandson, Brian Turner and his girlfriend McKenzie Hardman; sister, Rose Beacham and her husband Marshall; special nephew, Ernest Turner and his wife Jackie; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Sunday, March 20, 2022 from 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm at Askew Funeral Home, 731 Roanoke Ave, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina 27870.  Graveside Services will follow at 2:30 pm at Seaboard Cemetery, Seaboard, North Carolina.
