George Thomas Jackson, Jr of Roanoke Rapids, died Tuesday September 6, 2022.

He was born in Lenoir, NC to the late George Thomas Jackson, Sr and Helen Jackson. He was also preceded in death by his wife Joanne Muller Jackson, his sister, Hope Jackson Bowen and his brother, David L. Jackson.

George was a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. He began working at Halifax Memorial Hospital in 1976 and retired in 2010 from Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids.

He enjoyed going on vacation to the beach with his family. 

He would often take his lunch and eat while watching the boats, people fishing and the water flowing down the Roanoke River at the landing in Weldon.

He is survived by his daughter, Beth Jackson Cooke and her husband James of Cary, his son Bruce Jackson and his wife Cynthia of Rocky Mount; his three grandchildren, Lauren Jackson Winstead and her husband, James of Nashville, Jennifer N. Fitzpatrick and her husband, Ford of Cary and Jennifer C. Dooly and her husband, Andrew also of Cary and his eight great-grandchildren, Natalie Dooly, Evelyn Fitzpatrick, Stevie Fitzpatrick, Jackson Winstead, Vera Fitzpatrick, David Dooly, Adalyn Winstead and Lydia Dooly. 

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday September 11, 2022 at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids with Wally Spragins officiating.
