Adam Alexander Davis Wright, 72 of Roanoke Rapids, NC passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022.

He was born in Halifax County on October 26, 1950. Alex was preceded in death by his father, Emmett Alphonso Wright; his mother, Helen Virginia Davis Gathwright; his step-father, Emmett Gathwright and his sister, Esther Teresa Wright Farrar. 

He lived most of his life in Richmond, VA and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses there in Richmond. 

Alex was also employed by the Virginia Department of Transportation. 

In the late nineties, his mother and he moved back to Roanoke Rapids. He loved her very much and was her caregiver in her later years. Before that Alex loved traveling, interior decorating, and gardening.

Alex is survived by his sister, Linda Kay Wright of Roanoke Rapids, NC; his nieces, Katherine Teresa Farrar of Chattanooga, TN, Lauren K. Wright of Roanoke Rapids, NC; as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also surviving is his beloved furry companion, Tess and his very special friend and caregiver, Sara Rose. 

Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at 1pm in Cedarwood Cemetery with Kirk Taylor officiating. 

The family will also receive friends Wednesday, December 7, 2022 just prior to the graveside service from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm at Askew Funeral & Cremation Services.
