John Daniel “J.D.” Carver, age 101, of Jackson, North Carolina passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024.

He was born on April 11, 1922 to the late John Wilson and Mila Miranda Carver and was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth Kilpatrick Carver; his three sisters, Willie Mae Johnson, Martha Boyce and Annie White and was also preceded in death by a very special niece, Linda Dianne Kilpatrick Davis.

Mr. Carver worked and retired as a broker in the lumber industry. He was a lifetime member of the Jackson Baptist Church and was the youngest person to serve as deacon the first time he served and was also the oldest deacon to serve the last time he served as deacon. 

Mr. Carver proudly served his country in the U.S. He was a Freemason, a Shriner, a Lion, a Town Commissioner, and served on the Board at Odom Prison. 

He also enjoyed playing golf. He was most proud of being featured in the Eastern North Carolina Living magazine describing his 101 years of life.

He is survived by his daughter, Gloria Elizabeth Carver Dubay; his son, John Andrew (Drew) Kilpatrick Carver; his grandchildren, Steven Newton Dubay, Jr. and Sonya Elizabeth Dubay; his great-grandchildren, Richard Jackson, Steven Jackson and Michael Wiggins; his great-great-grandchild, Seth Jackson along with many nieces and nephews.

Graveside memorial services were held Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM in Jackson Cemetery in Jackson, North Carolina.

Memorial donations may be made to the Jackson Volunteer Fire Department, Lasker Volunteer Fire Department or the Seaboard Volunteer Fire Department.
