Rufus “Spear” Dickens, 98, of 2382 Piney Grove Church Rd. Littleton died Thursday, May 2, 2013 at his home.  Mr. Dickens was born April 16, 1915 to the late William Bill Dickens and Ruth Smith Dickens.  Mr. Dickens was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church.  He owned and operated Dickens Country Store for 39 years.  Mr. Dickens worked with the Civil Conservation Service from 1935 to 1937 helping to build roads around Asheville.  Mr. Dickens was a loving, gentle, kind man who would give you the shirt off his back.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and father-in-law.  Mr. Dickens was a friend to everyone and everyone was his friend.
