Margaret Lassiter Morris, 97, formerly of Weldon, died May 22, 2019, at the Oliver House in Wendell.

Margaret was born March 19, 1922, in Halifax County, the daughter of Willie H. and Helen Askew Lassiter.  

Her parents; her husband, Carlton Robert Morris; son, Wayne Morris; sisters, Macy Shay, Joy Moseley, Jewel Lee Whitley, Patricia Nethery; and brother, Buddy Gay, all preceded her in death.

She was a long-time member of Weldon Baptist Church, where she had served as church treasurer and also as a deacon.  During her career, she had worked in the spooler room in textiles, worked in food service; and later helped her husband build rental houses.

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Sullivan (Donald) of Winterville; son, Robbie Morris (Kathi) of Raleigh; sister, Sylvia “Tink” Winstead; grandchildren, April White (Brad), Heather Sullivan, Harrison Morris, Maglen Morris; and great-grandchild, Hannah Kate White.

Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 – 1:45 pm Sunday at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service, with the funeral service to be held at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.   Pastor Brad White will preside. Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon.
