Daniel Guy Newcomb, 33, formerly of Roanoke Rapids, died Saturday, March 17, 2012, in Norfolk, Virginia.
Mr. Newcomb attended Halifax Academy for four years and graduated from Manteo High School. He loved fishing, surfing, the Outer Banks, and was a very good angler fisherman. He also loved writing poetry and songwriting. Mr. Newcomb was a telemarketer in Virginia Beach, VA.
He was preceded in death by his father: Samuel Larry Newcomb of Kill Devil Hills; brother: Philip Hill Moncure; special cousin: Dylan Travis Parham who was like a brother; his maternal grandfather: William Hazelwood, Sr.; his paternal grandfather: Guy H. Newcomb; and his maternal great-grandmother: Annie Davis Tucker.
He is survived by his mother: Margaret Moncure and his stepmother: Debbie Newcomb, both of Kill Devil Hills; his maternal grandmother: Mary Hazelwood, of Roanoke Rapids; his paternal grandmother: Eleanor W. Newcomb, of Norfolk, Virginia; his daughter: Emily Paige Newcomb of Norfolk, Virginia; his son: Noah William Newcomb, of Norfolk, Virginia; his maternal aunts: Susan Lather, of Boca Raton, Florida, and Catherine Banton, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; his paternal uncle: Thomas Newcomb, of Richmond, Virginia; special cousins: Katiana Goodwin, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Mary Catherine Seymour of New Kent, Virginia; Danielle E. Morse, of Richmond, Virginia; and Kaitlyn E. Parham, of Colonial Heights, Virginia; and a number of other cousins, family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 23, 2012, at 2:15 P.M. in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service which is handling the arrangements. Rev. Randy Martin will officiate and burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 22, 2012, from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. at the funeral home and other times at 1020 Carolina Street, Roanoke Rapids.
