Marie Elizabeth Lovell Hunt, 87, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away on April 8, 2012 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

She was born on May 18, 1924 to Rufus and Mildred (Bowen) Lovell in Fernandina , FL.  Marie was a homemaker and former member of Weldon Baptist Church.  She was a charter member of Good News Baptist Church where she was ready to serve in any capacity the church needed.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W.P. Hunt and two brothers, Raymond and Melvin Lovell.

Marie Elizabeth is survived by her, son, Perry Edward Hunt and wife, Suzanne, of Southport, NC; daughter,Wendy Lamm of Roanoke Rapids, NC; brother, Dennis  Lovell, and wife, Mary Helen, of St. Mary's, GA; two sisters, Nan Stores, and husband, Jim, of Jacksonville, FL, and Eunice Lovell of Tucker, GA; sister-in-law, Helen  Lovell of Tilamook, OR; son-in-law, Tommy Lamm of Littleton, NC, and a special friend of the family, Janet  Thigpen. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Tammy Lamm, Tommy Lamm, Caroline Kesler, Cornelia Shaw, Lauren Copland, Adrienne Pittard and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 11, 2012 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2012, 11:00 am at the Good News Baptist Church, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, with Rev. Luke Walker, officiating.  Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials be made to Good News Baptist Church or the charity of one's choice.
