Earl Dean Marshall, 89, formerly of Americus, GA, died Friday, June 29, 2012 in Wake Medical Center.
Earl was born December 20, 1922 in Americus, GA to the late Charlie Edward Marshall and Ila Mae Short Marshall.
He was a decorated WWII combat veteran serving in the South Pacific with the United States Army.
After coming home from the war, he later moved to Roanoke Rapids, and was employed by JP Stevens, and later retired after many years of service.
Earl loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Marshall; a brother, Hilder Marshall, and his sister, Irene Norwood.
Surviving are his sons, Rev. Wayne Marshall and wife, Rhonda of Roanoke Rapids, Edward Marshall (United States Army, Retired) of Petersburg, VA; daughters, Gloria Vaughan and husband, Doug and Barbara Marshall, both of Roanoke Rapids.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Jonathan Marshall, David Marshall, Sarah Marshall Barbee, Katie Marshall, Col. Edward Marshall, Jr., Thomas Russell, Dawn Renee Vester Munn, and Jodi Vester Brigman, and eight great-grandchildren, Charlie and Victoria Marshall, Tony, Michael, and Elijah Marshall, Dylan Cooke, Jordan and Cody Brigman; a very special niece and three nephews.
A private service will be held by the family at a later date.
