Curtis Roosevelt Hathaway, Sr. 79, of Roanoke Rapids passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.  He was born August 24, 1932 to Jesse Lee and Annie James Hathaway.  He worked most of his adult life as a foreman in the lumber industry.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Katherine (Byrum) Hathaway, four children: Kathy and Don Morris of Franklinton, NC, Debbie and Ron Girdley of Richmond, VA , Curtis and Sandy Hathaway of Huntington, WV and Tanya Mason of South Hill, VA; eight grandchildren: Thelmer Damron, Brittany Mason, Samantha Milam, Curtis Hathaway, III, Brooke Mason, Michael Hathaway and twins Alex and Nicole Hathaway; two great grandchildren: Kilynn Damron and Kaiden Milam; one sister: Katie Hathaway Pollard of Greenville, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 4:00 P.M. Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Kingdom Hall on Hwy 48.
