Charlie Lathon Sadler, 86, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Wake Medical Center, Raleigh.
Charlie was born in Guilford County, NC, December 15, 1926 to the late Charlie Sadler and Pattie John Jordan Sadler. He proudly served with the United States Navy during WWII and was a member of VFW Post 3702. He retired from the Federal Government as a pipe-fitter after 29 years of service and also retired from W.R. Grace after 11 years of service. In addition to his parents, Charlie is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn “Beanie” Sadler and sisters, Edith Chambliss and Emma Skipper.
Surviving is his brother Donald Sadler and wife, Pat of Roanoke Rapids; three sisters, Nannie Faith Bateman of Littleton, NC, Joyce Ingram of Gaston, and Mary Garoutte of Missouri; three sisters-in-law, Lillian Merritt of Roanoke Rapids, Mattie Gibson of Weldon, and Brenda Gibson of Littleton; two brothers-in-law, Bob Gibson of Roanoke Rapids, and Clinton Howard Gibson of Newport News, VA. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, January 12, 2013, prior to the funeral service, from 12:00- 1:30 pm. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home’s chapel beginning at 2:00 pm. Rev. D.A. Leonard and Rev. Henry Stephens will officiate. Interment will be in Crestview Memorial Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids following the funeral service.
