Barbara Jean Inscoe Speed, 64 of Hawkins Chapel Road, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at her home.

Mrs. Speed was born August 24, 1948 in Halifax County to the late James Melvin Inscoe and Grace Pittard Inscoe.

Mrs. Speed was a member of Little Country Baptist Church.  She played piano for the church, loved collecting teapots and loved making things from blankets to ragdolls.  She loved cooking for her family and spoiling her grandkids.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years and the love of her life Ronnie Speed; three daughters: Dawn Speed-Medlin and her husband Sam, Sonya Smith and her husband Timmy and Shannon Stallings and her husband Danny, Jr. all of Roanoke Rapids; two sisters: Janice Inscoe Hales of Roanoke Rapids and Kathryn Stevens of Joshua Tree, CA; her grandchildren: Matthew Godsey, Hillary Godsey, Brittany Stallings and Holly Moore; her step-grandchildren: Zach Medlin, Faith Medlin, Tyler Smith, Eli Smith and Landon Smith.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 28, 2013      at Hawkins Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. James Jenkins officiating.  The family will receive Wednesday, March 27, 2013 friends from 6:00- 8:00 P.M. at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service and other times at the home of her daughter, 2438 Hawkins Chapel Road.
