Hattie Pittard Alston, 98, passed away Monday, September 16, 2019, at Rocky Mount Rehabilitation Center.

Hattie was born August 16, 1921, in Halifax County to the late Andrew Pittard and Rosezette Green Pittard. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack C. Alston; her sisters, Virginia and Josephine; her brothers, David and Albert.

Hattie was a member of Hawkins Chapel United Methodist Church. She loved her church and was very active in her church as well as Community Center Baptist Church.

Hattie is survived by her daughter, Louise A. Rowland and her husband Gerald of Rocky Mount; her sister-in-law, Leila S. Pittard of Roanoke Rapids; grandchild, Nicole R. Carman and her husband Joseph of Isle of Palm, SC; her grandchildren, Brian A. Carman and his wife Lindsey and Macy K Carman; a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Pastor Cara Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 10:45 A.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
