Marie Jennings Butler, 78, of Henrico died Monday afternoon, June 8, 2020 at Vidant North Hospital.
Marie was born June 22, 1941 in Franklin, VA, the daughter of Willie Jennings and Mattie Jennings Huff, both of whom preceded Marie in death.
Her husband, Thomas J. “Tommy” Butler, Jr.; sisters, Jean Robbins, Linda King and Betty Nance; brothers, Charles, Johnny and Warren Jennings; and grandson, Daniel Blake Dawes, also preceded her in death.
Marie worked for more than 40 years with JP Stevens, retiring as a floor supervisor.
She loved flowers, butterflies and the lake. She also loved her dogs, Isabella and Rocky.
She is survived by her son, Danny Dawes (Terry) of Roanoke Rapids; step-sons, Joey Butler (Teresa) of Littleton and Larry Butler of Henrico; her daughters, Kelly Russell of Roanoke Rapids, Cynthia Dawes of Castalia; step-daughter, Kim Plyler (Mike) of Roanoke Rapids; brothers, Butch and Harold Jennings of Henderson; 7 grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 13, 2020 from the graveside at Maple Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, 1938 NC 56 East, Louisburg, NC. Pastor Chad Patton will preside. Friends may visit with the family following the service.
