Pauline Thortis Smith, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Smith was born on May 10, 1934, the daughter of the late Lucy Goodman and Willie Thortis and the widow of the late Acey Thomas Smith.  

Pauline was a member of Weavers Chapel Methodist Church.  She enjoyed working in the church, her family, working in her flowers, and knitting when she was younger.

Surviving are her two sons, Tommy Smith and wife, Susan, of Punta Gorda, FL and Billy Smith of Roanoke Rapids; her daughter, Sheree Pilgreen and husband, Doug, of Roanoke Rapids; 11 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at Weavers Chapel Methodist Church with Pastor Stan Lewis officiating.  

The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM and at other times at the home of Sherre and Doug Pilgreen.  

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
