William “Bill” Gilbert Roundtree, III, 56, of Roanoke Rapids passed away Friday, October 2, 2020 at Duke Regional Hospital.

Bill was born January 29, 1964 in Bertie County to William G. Roundtree, Jr. and Edith Maxine Shearin Roundtree. He was preceded in death by his son, Cody Ryan Roundtree; his grandson, William G. Roundtree, V.

Bill loved his family, especially his children. He was very smart, hardworking and a jack of all trades. He helped anybody that needed help. In his sister’s words, he was a Goodboy.

Bill is survived by his parents, William G. Roundtree, Jr. and Edith Maxine Roundtree; his children, Bobbi Barber and her fiancé, Chris Mead of Halifax; William G. Roundtree, IV “Cooter”, Jacob Riley Roundtree, Kassidy Renee Roundtree, Corbin Ryan Roundtree, Ashley Rae Shearin, Chelsey Lyn Shearin and Kirby Tyler Shearin all of Roanoke Rapids; his sister, Seretha Pittman and her husband Eddie of Halifax; his grandchildren, Caiden Michael Roundtree, A’lexus Roundtree and River Mead; his niece and nephew, Chelsey Lynn Atkins and Daniel Pittman and special friends, Brian Shafer and Gregory Razor.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 8, 2020 in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Chris Howerton officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at the funeral home and other times at the home of Lyndy Rook, 819 Collier Street, Roanoke Rapids.
