Jimmy and Dorothy Storey went home to be with the Lord on January 5, 2021.

They were married on March 8, 1969. 

Jimmy Storey, age 77, was born March 11, 1943 in Roanoke Rapids, NC to George and Ola Storey. 

Dorothy, age 78, was born April 25, 1942 in Roanoke Rapids, NC to Fletcher and Dora Merritt. Jimmy worked as an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. 

He also enjoyed playing and coaching softball. 

Jimmy was preceded in death by his brothers Rudolph, William, Wallace and Jennings, along with his sister Lorene Allen. 

He is survived by his sister Betsy Urbahns. 

Dorothy was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She enjoyed Beach Music and Shagging with her sisters. 

Dorothy was preceded in death by her sisters Barbara Pepper, Sonja Floyd and her brother Butch Merritt. She is survived by her sister, Yvonne Hathaway and her brother, Sammy Merritt. 

Jimmy and Dorothy were married 52 years and shared four children. They were preceded in death by their son Monty Cox, and survived by their sons John Cox (Nanette), Jimmy Storey Jr. (Cassandra), and daughter Tiffany Harper (Mark). They were a proud Granny and Papa to Melanie Schaller, Scott Cox, Christopher Cox, Talia Cox, Ashley Storey, Courtney Harper, Allison Storey, Casey Harper, Taylor Storey, Logan Storey, Jacob Storey, 7 great grandchildren and 2 grand dogs Bo and Max. 

A memorial service to celebrate their lives will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 11, 2021 at Victory Baptist Church with Rev. Jeremy Kobernat officiating. 

Social distancing and face coverings are recognized.
