Mrs. Terry Lassiter Dawes, 62, died Tuesday evening, February 16, 2021 in her Henrico home.

Terry was born December 30,1958 in Halifax County.

A homemaker, she loved her family, especially her husband and 2 sons;  friends; and absolutely adored her pets. Terry always enjoyed the family’s annual Fourth of July cookout. 

She loved going on cruises, gaming at casinos, and playing bingo with her friends. 

Survivors include her husband, Daniel Dawes; sons, Michael Lee Collier (Julie), and Rodney Lee Collier (Heather), all of Roanoke Rapids; brothers, Robert Lassiter, Jr (Patricia) of Adolphus, KY, Wayne Martin Lassiter of Roanoke Rapids; sisters, Tammy Llaneta  (Kenny), Stephanie Bennett (Jonathan) of Henderson, Brenda Sorrese (Lew) of Pinehurst; grandchildren, Zachary Wilson, Cameron Wilson, Devin Collier, Damian Collier, Tracy Sealey, Katie Collier, Toby Collier; 3.5 grandchildren; and her new puppy, Onyx. 

Terry’s parents, Edward and Shirley Cain, and her beloved German Shepard, Spirit, preceded her in death.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Sunday, February 21, 2021 from the graveside at Maple Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, 1938 NC 56 East, Louisburg, NC.  Pastor Jason Havens will preside.  

Friends may visit with the family following the service.

Attendees are encouraged to follow both face covering and social distancing recommendations.

The service will be recorded and posted for viewing on the Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service Facebook page.
