Theresa Barber Walters departed her lovely journey on earth August 29, 2021 at her home surrounded by loved ones.

Theresa was born in Richmond, VA on December 25, 1960, a daughter of James Donald and Theresa Roberta Verra Barber.

Theresa was an outgoing woman, who loved to joke around and occasionally talk junk, attributes that carried over well during her career as a server in the restaurant business.  .  Other than her animals, her greatest love was for her family.

She was a mother, a friend, a sister, an aunt to so many other than just family.

She loved to gamble whether in Atlantic City or just bingo or poker around her kitchen table. She also enjoyed making candles and planting her flowers every year.

Christmas was always her favorite holiday not because of her birthday but for cooking and seeing all the family together for many laughs and memories.

More than anything she will be remembered for the way she loved her children and grandchildren. She will always remain in so many memories for the way she loved and cared for everyone and her door was always open for advice, support, words of wisdom or just a listening ear.

Surviving are her daughters, Holly Walters (Chris Clary) and Ashley Walters; son, Zack Walters; former spouse, Douglas Grant Walters; sister, Lisa Simmons; brothers, Gene and Eric Barber; grandchildren, Lathan, Lane, Lynlee, Seth, and expected grandchild, Carter Gray Clary; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:30 pm Friday, September 3, 2021, at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service, with the service to follow at 4:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.   Pastor Russ Collins will preside.

For those unable to attend, the service will be recorded then posted on the Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service Facebook page.

The online guest register may be signed at hockadayfs.com

The family will receive friends at Theresa's home at 134 Dogwood Ct. Littleton, NC, 27850 after the ceremony.

Last, but not least, Theresa was loved by many and those who knew her walked away with a laugh and a memory that will forever be embedded in our hearts.

To know her was to love her, and if you did what a blessing you were given. Her contagious laugh will never be forgotten as well as all the love and laughter she placed in so many hearts.

Arrangements are under the care of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service.
