Nancy Gail Abernathy Finch, 71, of Roanoke Rapids passed away Monday, October 18, 2021, at Vidant North Hospital.

Nancy was born October 12, 1950, in Halifax County to the late Benjamin Cornelius Abernathy and Mildred Lee Davis Abernathy. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Dale Abernathy.

Nancy was a great mom and loving person, she loved her family unconditionally. She loved everyone and would help anybody. Nancy made a great chocolate pie and grilled cheese sandwich. 

Nancy loved going to church when she was able and listening to southern gospel music. She also enjoyed watching crime scene investigations.

Nancy is survived by her son, Bryan Finch and fiancé Christy Blanton; her grandchildren, Bryson Finch and Trey Bailey and his wife Megan; her great-grandchild, Carmen Bailey; her brothers and sisters, Judy Myrick and her husband W.T., Ricky Abernathy, Joan Todd, Elaine Whitby, Donald Abernathy and Rose Abernathy; a special niece, Amy Myrick; nieces and nephews, Kimberly Olivier, Lindsey Myrick, Lesha Jordan, Crystal Whitby, Michael Abernathy, Donald Abernathy, Ben Abernathy, Jason Todd , Megan Abernathy, and Jonathan Lucas.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 22, 2021, at Cedarwood Cemetery with Rev. Ken Arrington officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:30 P.M. at the funeral home prior to the service.
