Jason Edward Wilmouth, Sr., 41, of Roanoke Rapids, died Monday morning, December 20, 2021 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham following an extended illness.

Jason was born in South Boston, VA on April 14, 1980, the son of Donald Wilmouth and Mary Taylor Wilmouth, both of whom survive.

Jason was an electrician by trade; prior to that he had worked for a number of years as a correctional officer.  He enjoyed hunting and running his dogs, and he also liked to fish. 

Jason was a member of the Old Store Hunt Club since he was a child.  He was fond of music and was happy when he was being a DJ.

Jason loved his family and his grandchildren were the apples of his eye.  He was a member of Freedom Free Will Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his parents, is his wife Tracy Edwards Wilmouth; sons, Jason Wilmouth, Jr. (fiancee’ Lizzy), Joshua Wilmouth (Madison), Michael May (Beth), Nicholas Davis (Linda), Joshua Thompson; grandchildren, Jami May, Alex “Monkey” May, Maci May, Alexa Scott, Makinze Davis; brothers and sisters, Baretta Taylor (Rachel), Cory Wilmouth, Stephanie Roark and Michelle Wilmouth; and a number of nieces and nephews.  Jason was preceded in death by a son, Todd; and also by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Freedom Free Will Baptist Church, 4516 NC Hwy 125, Halifax, NC.  At other times, friends may visit with the family at the residence on Chaloner Drive.

The memorial service to celebrate Jason’s life will be held at the church at 2:00 pm Wednesday, with Pastor Rex Evans presiding.
