Milton Shearin Inscoe, 85, of Littleton, NC, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 10,2022, at The Landings of Lake Gaston in Littleton, with his daughters by his side. 

Milton was born on August 2, 1936, in Roanoke Rapids, NC to the late Herbert Picot and Beatrice Shearin Inscoe. 

He is survived by his three daughters, Tammy Harris (Donnie) of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Polly Nethercutt (Gary) of Henrico, NC, and Donna Smith (Jimmy), of Roanoke Rapids, NC. Three grandchildren, Stephanie Bruton (David) of Charlottesville, VA, Brock Smith of Roanoke Rapids, and Logan Smith (Brianna Jones, Fiancée) of Winterville, NC. Four great grandchildren, Sadie, Ana, Micah, and Silas Bruton of Charlottesville, VA. A sister, Jane Speed (Charles) of Harrisville, WV, along with two nephews, several great-nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Milton graduated from William R. Davie HS, where he drove the school bus for several years and was voted the quietest in his senior class. 

He was employed with the Department of Corrections, Caledonia State Prison where he retired after 28 years of service as a correctional officer. 

Milton enjoyed boating on Lake Gaston, fishing with his dad, and trips to the North Carolina Outer Banks. He liked the peaceful quiet times around home, where he enjoyed reading the newspaper, and watching TV, especially the old-time wrestling programs.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2020, at 2 pm at Cedarwood Cemetery

in Roanoke Rapids, NC, with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Services of Roanoke Rapids is handling arrangements. The service will be recorded and later posted to the Hockaday Facebook page. 

The family of Milton Inscoe wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the caring staff at The Landings of Lake Gaston, as well as the staff at Community Home Care and Hospice. 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Pleasant Hill Christian Church, c/o Benevolent Fund, PO Box 550, Gasburg, VA, 23857. 

CDC guidelines will be recognized at the Graveside Service.
