Maxine Elizabeth Case Fulghum Holloman, 89, of Roanoke Rapids, died Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at ECU Health Inpatient Hospice in Greenville.

Maxine was born June 2, 1933 in Gaston County, NC, the daughter of Herbert and Christine Moody Case.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, John Wesley Fulghum, Jr., and Claude Douglas Holloman; and her sister, Glenda Harris.

Maxine was a graduate of East Carolina Teachers College.  She taught senior English and French at Davie and later at Northwest High Schools.  She was a member of the Pilot Club, and Delta Kappa Gamma.  She was also made an “honorary farmer” with the FFA.

Maxine was an active member of Smith United Methodist Church.  From her late teens right out of high school, she played the piano at New Hope Methodist Church and then at Smith United Methodist Church.  She was involved with the United Methodist Women for a number of years.

Maxine is survived by her daughters, Sharon Lynne Fulghum Moore (Page) and Melanie Kay Fulghum Gardner (David); grandchildren, Hannah Lynch (Corey), John Wesley Moore, Rachel Moore, Case Gardner, Sherry Gardner; and a niece, Laurie Harris Bliga (Matt).

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:45 pm Saturday at Smith United Methodist Church, with the funeral to follow at 2:00 pm in the church sanctuary.  Pastor Stan Lewis will preside.  Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery.
