Dwight Bronson “Bob” Cummings, 71, died unexpectedly on Wednesday afternoon, August 31, 2022 in his Gaston home.

Bob was born in Preston County, WV on March 16,1951, the son of Virgil Dale and Gertrude Marie Sigley Cummings.  

Bob was a retired construction superintendent.  He enjoyed his work and the cross country travel that came with it.  

Bob was a loving and devoted family man to them all, especially the grandchildren. He liked spending time with the boys, and also liked to hunt and fish.

Bob is survived by his wife of 48 years, Bonnie; his daughters, Becky Johnson and husband Jason, Christy Summerlin and husband Dwayne; his grandchildren, Dustin Wilson, Braxton Roberson, Kaylee Barrett, Caleb Johnson, Logan Johnson, Kamryn Johnson, Kaysie Summerlin; a brother, Greg Cummings; and sisters, Patricia Runner, Joyce Cummings, Chris Richards, Cindy Dickens, Bonnie Jean Johnson and Darlene Cummings.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Bonnie Emma Rogers Cummings; and his son, Dwight Cummings, Jr.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:45 pm Sunday, September 4, at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service.  The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Stan Lewis presiding.  Mr. Cummings will be cremated following the service.

Memorials may be sent to the Bob Cummings Memorial Fund in care of Hockaday Funeral Home.
