Frances Coggins Leake, 81, of Roanoke Rapids, died January 18, 2019, in her home.

Frances was born in Northampton County on December 11, 1937, a daughter of Jimmie Ernest Coggins and Stella Casper Coggins.

She retired from JP Stevens.  

She enjoyed tending the flowers in her yard, gardening and also puzzles and crosswords.  Widowed as a young woman, Frances was tough and hard-working, and she loved her family dearly.  She was a member of Creeksville Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons, Clifton Wayne and Dwight Payne Leake; daughter, Linda Leake Patrick and husband, Billy; grandchildren, Billy Patrick II, Leanne Patrick; great-granddaughter, Madalynn Patrick; brother, Ernest Coggins; and sisters, Sylvia Floros, Grace Ormond and Marjorie Kleis.  

In addition to her her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Franklin Leake; sister Catherine “Sis” Coggins, and two infant sisters.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:30 am Wednesday at Hockaday Funeral Service and Cremation.  A graveside service will then be held at 11:00 am at Cedarwood Cemetery, with Pastor Wayne White presiding.
