Mary Lee Sipes Lacks, 82, of Roanoke Rapids went to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her family on Monday, December 11, 2023.

Mary Lee was born July 20, 1941, in Boydton, Virginia to the late Connie Sipes and Jessie Lee Poteat Sipes. 

She was also preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Clyde Morris and Ernest “Onion” Nichols.

Mary Lee was a member of Harvest Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church. 

All the things that anybody needs to know about Mary Lee have been lived.

Mary Lee is survived by her husband of 61 years, Elijah D. Lacks, Sr.; her children, Elijah Daniel “Dannie”  Lacks, Jr. and Susan Lacks; her sister Brenda Gupton and her husband Frank; her grandchildren, Erich Lacks and his wife Emily, Brent Lacks and his wife Meagan, Michaela Tanner and her husband Cole and Elijah Elmore; her great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Ray, Westen and Kenna; her sisters-in-law, Nancy Morris and Corlis Nichols and a host of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Mary Lee’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 15, 2023, at Harvest Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Tim Bowen officiating. 

The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 – 1:30 P.M prior to the service and other times at the home, 110 Ashford Lane, Roanoke Rapids.
