Katherine “Kat” Horne Collins, 80, of Roanoke Rapids, NC peacefully passed from this life to her eternal home on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Signature Health in Roanoke Rapids, NC.
Kat was born in Halifax County on September 9, 1943, to the late Joseph B. Horne and Priscilla Balmer Horne.
She is preceded in death by her sisters Vickie H. Turner, Marie H. Barkley, and her son Edward Glenn Williams.
Kat was a faithful member of the Roanoke Rapids Church of God and served as a counselor of the Girls Club and youth leader for kid’s church.
She was also the church custodian for many years. She enjoyed serving people and was a caregiver to many.
Kat enjoyed her job at the Holiday Inn as Hostess/Cashier for many years.

She was voted best hostess by many of her customers that traveled and stopped there year after year, winning her a free trip to Hawaii which was one of the highlights in her life.
She is survived by her sons William Lee Williams and wife Carol, Joseph Wayne Williams and his wife Penny; her sisters Stella Ricks, Barbara King and her husband Donnie, and Wanda H. Edwards and her husband Vince; her brother Joseph B. Horne, Jr. and his wife Grace; three grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Much gratitude goes to all the staff that were so kind and helpful at Signature Healthcare and Gentiva Hospice in Roanoke Rapids.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service from 6PM – 8PM. Friends and family will meet at the Home of Barbara and Donnie King at other times.
